Public Service Announcements on Immigration
Spring 2007

PSA Slide Show

We are a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants; we need an immigration system that is good for our families, our economy, our workers…and good for America.

What is a PSA?

A PSA promotes a "public service" and/or "educational" message that helps people learn more about an important issue. It is not a message to buy a product or service, and it does not endorse a company's product or service.

The U.S. immigration system is dysfunctional and repair is long overdue. Unfortunately, Congress has debated this problem for many years but has failed to act. Now, the federal government has stepped up border and workplace enforcement efforts; there is a steady stream of anti-immigration news and opinion in the media; and a record number of state and local governments are considering legislation to regulate immigration. It is all but certain that immigration will be a hot-button issue during the 2008 presidential campaign.

All of us have a responsibility to help set a rational tone for the debate on immigration reform and to ensure that the debate is based on facts, not myths. It is important that supporters of immigration reform do their part to educate the public about the positive impact of immigrants on the U.S. economy and society.

AILF has prepared a set of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) to help you explain this issue in your community. AILF is working hard to place these ads in national newspapers and on popular websites, but we need your help to share these positive messages in local communities. See if you can place these PSAs in your local newspaper, post them on your website, or simply email them your clients, friends, and family members.

How to Use AILF's PSAs

  • Post them on your website with links to this page
  • Send them to other organizations or listservs
  • Ask your local newspaper to publish the ads (See the Guide to Placing Public Service Announcements)
  • Rotate them in your weekly or monthly client newsletters
  • Print, frame, and hang them in your office
  • Ask local immigrant owned or immigrant friendly businesses to post them in their establishments
  • Forward this link to your friends
