Hector Castillo

Hector Castillo is a producer, engineer, and musician based in New York City. He got his start playing bass bands in his native Venezuela, but primarily pursued production work upon moving to the US in 1998. In a short time, Mr. Castillo has worked with a remarkable range of artists, including David Bowie, Suzanne Vega, Philip Glass, Lou Reed, Bebel Gilberto, and Ziggy Marley among others. In addition to making records, he has mixed several 5.1 surround projects, most notably T. Rex’s Electric Warrior, and David Bowie’s recent albums, Heathen and Reality. He also has a few outstanding film credits such as Errol Morris’ Academy Award documentary Fog of War; Jean Cocteau’s original Beauty and the Beast scored by Philip Glass and released on DVD; and Naqoiqatsi, the third installment in Godfrey Reggio’s groundbreaking trilogy. Currently, Mr. Castillo is producing several young bands and is collaborating as sound designer in an off Broadway show titled Evolution.
