She covers the latest in medical advances as well as feature health stories. Dr. Parikh graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science degree and received her M.D. from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Prior to joining CBS 2, she completed her internship in general surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan. As a fourth year medical student, Dr. Parikh traveled to the Amazon region of Brazil as part of the University of Cincinnati International Health Program. The medical team lived on a boat and provided medical care to remote villages along the shores of the Amazon River. She has received numerous awards including the National Xerox Award for the Humanities, the National Harvard Book Award for Outstanding Achievement in Academics and the Arts, and was a National Merit Scholar. Dr. Parikh is currently a member of the American Medical Association, the American Medical Women’s Association, and the Medical Society of the State of New York. She is licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York. Prior to her work in medicine and television journalism, Dr. Parikh was a promotional model and professional singer and dancer. She has performed in various productions for national theme parks and Royal Caribbean Cruiselines. Dr. Parikh enjoys writing, traveling, hiking and scuba diving. She grew up in Cincinnati,
Ohio and resides in New York City.
