Master of Ceremonies
A third-generation born Canadian, from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Gwen began her career with the Black Community Communications Media in radio, and as host/producer of their television program "Black Is". She has worked at Canada's nationally aired "Weather Network" and at CFCF-12 TV in Montreal as a Weather Anchor, Reporter, and as Host on the internationally syndicated award-winning travel show, "Travel, Travel". Gwen holds a BA in Journalism from Montreal’s Concordia University and is listed as one of their "Famous Alumni". The university has used her to promote education. She is also a graduate in Social Sciences from Dawson College in Montreal. Gwen’s strong community commitment, interest in young people and reinforcing positive direction has led her to being actively involved in community organizations. She founded “Positive Images” a mentor project for adolescent girls in Canada. Gwen has received several awards in Canada and the USA including awards from both countries’ governments. Her civic and professional achievements earned her the "2002 Woman of Distinction Award" in Texas, commendations from the Governor of Texas, the State Representative, the United States Congress and from the Government of Canada. In 1999 She received the prestigious National Association of Black Journalists' (NABJ) National Community Service Award and shared a regional Emmy for a CBS Weather Special. From 1997 -2003 she won numerous NABJ awards for her broadcasting work. In 2004 she received an Emmy nomination for her work in Washington, DC. The Washington based “Empower Program”, which works with youth to end the culture of violence, awarded Gwen the “2004 Voices Against Violence Award” for her overall positive work with young people. Gwen is an author, motivational, and keynote speaker for all ages and is listed in the publication "Who's Who In Black Canada". Gwen can be seen on WTTG Fox 5 on their Noon show and at 5:00pm weekdays.
