James Adams James Adams

James Adams joined NEWS4 in 1997 as a general assignment reporter. Previously, he anchored the 5:30pm and 10:00pm newscasts at WRTV in Indianapolis. His joining NEWS4 in Washington was a homecoming for him. He began his career as an investigative reporter for Fox Channel 5 in 1977 and later covered Capitol Hill and the White House. In 1987, he became anchor of the 10:00pm news. Mr. Adams also worked as a freelance journalist for CNBC, BET News and BIZ network.



Mr. Adams has won Emmys in four categories: Outstanding Anchor, Documentary, News Series and News Feature. He also has won the Washington Area Mass Media Award for Outstanding Anchor; the National Commission on Working Women Award; the RTNDA Award for Documentary Production; a CEBA Award for Interview Excellence; and a United Press International Award. Mr. Adams has also worked as a consultant to the State Department training journalists in Southern Africa on economic reporting and free press issues. He and his wife, Barbara, have three children.
