Padmasree Warrior, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Motorola, Inc., India

Ms. Padmasree Warrior was named to the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Motorola, Inc. on January 1 of this year. Previously, Ms. Warrior served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager or Motorola’s Energy System’s Group as well as the General Manager for Thoughtbeam, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola.

As General Manager for ESG, Ms. Warrior was responsible for all aspects of Motorola-profit and loss, sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing. As General Manager for Thoughtbeam, she led the evaluation of the potential to commercialize research efforts relating to compound semiconductor materials.

Prior to these assignments, Mr. Warrior was Corporate Vice President and Chief T echnology Officer for Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector. In that role, she was responsible for the Sector’s technology strategy and embedded systems solutions. She led the Sector’s 1,100-member global research and development organization. She also played a key role in transforming the company’s semiconductor technology innovations and intellectual property into market-focused solutions.

In addition to research and development, Ms. Warrior has extensive experience in many other aspects of the electronics industry; including profit and loss management, manufacturing, operations, technology transfer and business development. She has been part of the team at Motorola since 1984 and has held many leadership positions within Motorola.

Ms. Warrior received her master’s degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India. She has won awards for academic excellence at Cornell University and IIT, New Delhi. She currently serves as the Motorola executive liaison for Cornell University.

She was one of six women selected nationwide to receive the prestigious Women Elevating Science and Technology award from Working Woman magazine in June 2001. She has also been recognized for her contributions to technology by the Women in Technology International Organization and received a Lifetime Honorary Member award. As a community leader, she served on the Texas Governor’s Council for Digital Economy, and is a member of the Texas Higher Education Board review panel. She also participated on the selection board for White House fellows in 2001.
