    Gabriel L.I. Bevilacqua


    Gabriel L.I. Bevilacqua is a member of the Litigation Department in Saul Ewing’s Philadelphia office and serves as Chair of the Firm’s Health Law Litigation Committee. He concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, as well as the representation of medical specialty boards, elected officials and Commonwealth agencies and municipalities.

    Before joining Saul Ewing in 1984, Mr. Bevilacqua served in the City of Philadelphia Law Department, holding positions including Chief Deputy City Solicitor, Chief of Major Trials and Chairman of the Litigation Department.

    Mr. Bevilacqua has handled many cases to verdict and is recognized as a leader of the trial bar in Philadelphia.

    Mr. Bevilacqua is deeply involved in numerous professional and civic organizations and activities. In a decisive victory, he was elected to his current position as Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Mr. Bevilacqua has held a number of leadership positions with the Philadelphia Bar Association, including seven years as a member of its Board of Governors, and serving as Treasurer. His service extends to the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, as well, where he currently serves as a Trustee. He is Past President of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation. He has also served as Chancellor of the Justinian Society.

    Among Mr. Bevilacqua’s other professional activities, he was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to serve on the Appellate Rules Advisory Committee and to lecture in its “Bridge the Gap” program. He has served as an arbitrator for federal and state courts, and as a Judge Pro Tem in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Bevilacqua is a past member of the Industrial Board of the Bureau of Labor and Industry of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the Litigation Sections of the American and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel, and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.

    Among his community activities, Mr. Bevilacqua was a member of the Nazareth Hospital Board of Trustees and of the Nazareth Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital and Holy Redeemer Hospital Home Health Agency Board of Directors. He is a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce. He was designated a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer” by Philadelphia Magazine for 2004. He was honored on April 13, 2004 by the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University.

    Mr. Bevilacqua received a B.A. from St. Joseph’s University and a law degree from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University. He is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania.
