The second of eleven children, Mr. Orozco grew fond of music at a young age. His music career started early when at age 8, he became a member of the Mexico City Boys Choir. As part of the Choir, he traveled the world visiting 32 countries in Europe, the Caribbean, Central and South America. Today, Mr. Orozco shares the knowledge gained from these travels with children through his books and recordings. Mr. Orozco has built a successful career as a children’s author, songwriter, performer and recording artist. He has recorded 13 volumes of Lírica Infantil, Latin American Children’s Music, and written three award winning books; De Colores and Other Latin American Folk Songs for Children and Diez Deditos (Ten Little Fingers) and his most recent, Fiestas - A Year of Latin American Songs of Celebration. Through the sales of over two million CDs, books and videos his work has effectively reached millions of children throughout the U.S. and Latin America. Further, Mr. Orozco continues to perform for children throughout the country by visiting concert halls, libraries, and schools. He is considered an expert in children’s music and is a featured speaker and presenter at educational conferences and seminars for educators, parents, librarians and childcare providers who seek to use music as a learning tool to promote literacy, cultural awareness and raise self-esteem for children. Mr. Orozco has earned a reputation of a cultural migrant worked by sharing the story of his own immigration as well as the folkloric traditions with migrant children and their families. Mr. Orozco is the father of four children and currently
lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
