In 1998, Professor Daniel Tsui was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. His work, involving the study of electrons, revolutionized the way electrons are perceived and identified several physical properties that have led scientists to more completely understand the materials that make "chips," the great building blocks of this High Tech era. Daniel Tsui began his education in Hong Kong and in 1958 He came to the U.S. to study at Augustana College a small Lutheran college in Illinois. He went on to earn a PhD in Physics from the University of Chicago and later joined Bell Laboratories in 1968. In 1982 he became a professor at Princeton University Daniel Tsui feels that he has benefited enormously from coming to
America and that in his eyes, the most striking aspect in this country is
Freedom. Freedom, he says, produces an atmosphere that nurtures
creativity, industry, innovation, forward-looking and revolutionary
improvements on the quality of life. inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom. (Albert Einstein) The United States of America provided Daniel Tsui with a wonderful
opportunity to excel, but think what benefit he returned by magnifying
that opportunity with such diligence and enterprise. AILF is proud to
honor Dr. Daniel Tsui for his contributions to both science and his
country. |
